I have really learned so much in this class and have realized how much I can do for students so they can work independently (even absent students) and still succeed in the classroom. Here are some of my suggestions for using in any classroom but this is for my science class.]

Film Noir
For this assignment I had to stop and let my creativity flow. Very difficult for me and my busy life with three boys and sports. So, late one night I had to play videographer and actor in order to complete my assignment. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it.

Class Project
For our class we have to show how we are going to use our digital media in our classroom. I've decided to create my own lab videos and demonstrations for students that may be absent from class so they can still see lab results. The video below is one that I did earlier before I had Corel and, of course, it was my first video project. I have no idea where the music came from because I did not select it. I also could not remember where I saved the first files to make a new version in Corel. But..... This is an example of how I would use the camera in my science class.
Easter 2013
Just wanted to make a little video of my son to remember Easter this year. Since it was raining, we had a little egg hunt inside but he still had fun. I think he enjoyed the egg decorating the most.

SPRING BREAK!!
Well, I really didn't go anywhere during spring break but I did get a few things accompished, had fun and learned a few things along the way. From putting out my Easter decorations, playing at Chuckie Cheese's, doing my laudry and watching James Bond movies, I had a pretty good break. As you'll see, I started out with a nice, refreshing cup of tea and ended with a desperately deserved soak after all that fun. Hope you enjoy it!

Point Of View
For our assignment this week we had a choice of home and family, community or point of view. I chose point of view. My first choice was to video my son playing outside from his point of view but I had problems with my camera settings and could not video outside. Then I decided to try and be the car going around the race track but, once again, camera settings were not cooperating. So I finally borrowed a camera from someone else in class and came up with the following video.

Nostalgia video clip
Last week we were working on how to create video clips and our assignment was to do something nostalgic. I came up with a few ideas but settled on the video below. The reason I settled on this video is because my mom had given me a CD with some songs that she liked and wanted me to listen to them. Most of them were Christmas songs but one stood out. It was titled "Lonesome for My Precious Children" and it really tugged at my heart thinking about parents sitting on the porch waiting for someone to come visit....which is what my mom was doing when I got the music from her. So... here is my rendition of "Lonesome......"

Reflections....
This week our assignment was to get reflections but I absolutely had no time to get creative so I tried to get some pics as I was out and about in between errands. I tried to take pictures of things reflecting in the window or mirror of our car and here is what I came up with....
\
These photos were shot with a shutter speed of 1/60 with my aperture set at 5.6 and an ISO of 1600
For this shot I only changed my ISO to 3200 hoping I could see more of the lights that were available into the picture.

Silhuettes
Go Panthers!!
A group of us at Milton Middle decided to head to the roof of the school building to try our hand at creating silhouettes.
Here are just a few......
Trying some out on my own..... not so successful
I also thought I would try my hand at something "Fresh" so here is my picture of "fresh electricity" being made! :)

Writing with Light and a Passion for Red
If you know me, you know that I love bling and red! I also love the light writing that we've done. So what excitement I had to find out we had a choice of assignments. However, I decided to combine two and this is what I came up with. My shutter was set on "10 and my apperture was 5.0. The ISO for this shot was 200. Now that I think about it, leaving the light on a little longer may have allowed my sparkling red background to show up more.
Here are some of my efforts BEFORE I got to this stage....
My first shot.... WAY too close.
Then I tried using light to make my "red" stand out more..... but LED lighting just wasn't giving me the color that I wanted...
But after some tweaking with the ISO and the timing of my "drawing", I finally came to one that I was very close to my vision!.
Then....
I wanted to use this as a Valentine picture so I went to PhotoShop and designed this Valentine....

So... I used another flashlight but it was more like a spotlight and was only making part of the background show up....
So I decided to use the ceiling light (I'm in my closet BTW) but without thinking, had my ISO set too high for that much light...(I think it was 3200)

Horizons
Our assignment this week was horizons so I took a couple of different ones trying my best to focus on certain settings that I thought would lend the best clarity, color and interest.
For this shot I used a shutter speed of 1/80, and aperture of 10.0 and ISO of 3200. No real reason for choosing those numbers.... just experimenting and hoping I could catch as much of the color as possible but still keep some of the noise out of the picture.
Pictures in the snow have always been the hardest for me. Trying to get a great shot without blowing out the white in my shots has always been a problem. So, I tried a few shots to see if I could find an appropriate setting. I focused on the shutter speed and ISO so I wouldn't overwhelm myself with too many settings and this is what I came up with.
Shutter - 1/250
ISO - 400
Aperture - 5.6
I also took the liberty of fixing one of my photos in Photoshop just to see what kind of things I could do in my next shot to fix the shadows and light and how much more my shot can be improved. I've shared the "improved" picture below.
I think I might add aperture the next snow day, along with my shutter and ISO. Hopefully I will finally find the right combination to finally get snow pics that are not too dark or too blown out.
